The heart of the community includes a central urban business district built around a traditional Town Square including new schools and a 19-acre park with a community building. The towncenter includes shopping, dinning and other community serving amenities. An 18-mile system of hiking trails connects the neighborhoods to the towncenter and to over 1,115 acres of open space. All these features have been designed to work together, inspired by the spirit of small towns found throughout America.

Currently San Elijo Hills students attend the newly constructed San Elijo School. Once K-5 attendance is sufficient for expansion, a brand new Elementary School will be built immediately adjacent to San Elijo School.
